The Australian Qualifications Framework (AQT) provide standards for educational qualifications in Australia. It is administered in all states by the Australian Government’s Department of Industry. The pathway programs are recognized nationally. Below you can see the purpose for each pathway program.

ELICOS

English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) are delivered at most of the institutes you will be applying for. It means, if your IELTS score is not good enough to meet entry requirements, you will be offered placement at the English course which will help you to improve language skills.

Foundation Programs

Foundation Programs are pathways to undergraduate and Vocational Education and Training. They might or might not provide formal qualifications, however, entry requirements are only grade 11 and IELTS score of 5.5. Moreover, they help students to develop academic English, communication and cultural awareness and they are often packaged with the desired undergraduate program.

Diploma Programs

Diploma Program is the best solution for high school graduate students. They provide formal qualifications and student often don’t need any previous education in this area of study. Even though, they provide more limited subjects and they might not directly provide a pathway into university, with the formal qualifications provided, they are a key pathway for international students.

Bridging Courses

Other bridging courses are typically designed to support entry into a particular program at a particular institution. However, they may have limited recognition by other institutions. The length of the program is usually shorter than Diploma courses and it provides particular subject skills for the desired program.
